Are Cats Alarm Clocks ?
“If I could only sleep in for an hour, or even half an hour, I wouldn’t feel so tired“, I thought, as I was rudely awakened by my demanding timepiece.
As I sat up in bed rubbing my eyes, my mind wandered as to the inventions of this type of clock. It appeared in the early human civilization, and there were prominent personalities in the past who owned one of these clocks.
I looked at the clock again, and remembered that clocks with an integrated alarm were the first consumer goods to be manufactured for civilian use. As the alarm clocks got older, they were breaking, and people were late for work or late in keeping their appointments because of the shortage of them.
Then it hit me that some animals had internal alarm clocks, especially cats. I am a person who has had various types of cats in the past. There was one that was somewhat special to me.
When my clock’s digital face showed 6:00 a.m., my cat, just like clock work, would get on the bed, place its face close to mine, and if I ignored it, would start to paw at my face.
However, there are some cats who just cry continuously, rather than get on the bed. So you then, why not, pick it up, give it some TLC, and make your way to the food supply storage compartment. After feeding it, you can climb into bed again.
Usually, cats take a nap after they have eaten. They go through three types of sleep. The brief nap, the longer light sleep, and the deep sleep. The light sleep and the deep sleep alternate. When the cat settles down for a nap, it floats into a light sleep that lasts for approximately half an hour. It sinks further into slumber, and for six to seven minutes, experiences deep sleep.
It would be a good idea to place your cat somewhere in the house far away from your bedroom. This way you are unable to hear its loud demanding alarm clock. You need not discipline your cat by scaring it with a newspaper, or screaming at it, because it will only leave the room for a short while and return.
When I got up out of bed and began to walk past the alarm clock, I couldn’t help but think that I was lucky to have a clock like this one, since I do not have my cat to wake me up anymore.
